B. PULL-OUT TESTING. A soil nail pull-out test is a field quality control procedure used to verify load capacity and bond strength. This testing confirms that the reinforced ground can safely support the intended loads.
C. STANDARD PENETRATION TEST. The Standard Penetration Test (SPT) is a field test used to measure soil strength and density by counting hammer blows. Engineers perform this test at different depths inside a borehole to verify varying soil layers. The recorded blow count helps identify changes in subsurface strata and assess safe foundation designs. These results help determine the correct length, capacity, and spacing for soil nails to be installed safely.
D. FIELD DENSITY TEST. A Field Density Test is an on-site geotechnical quality control method used to measure the in-place dry density and moisture content of compacted soil. This verification ensures that the subgrade has reached the required compaction level and load-bearing strength. Consequently, it verifies that the compacted foundation is suitable for the installation of erosion protection systems, including Powerful Units, geobags, gabions, and riprap, by reducing the risk of differential settlement and movement.
